Sri Ramar Temple everyone must see – Near chennai

26 07 2009

Until I visit this place I never ever imagined a very old Ram temple exist in this country. When by brother visited the Thirunindravur Perumal temple and accidentally he found a Sri Ram temple exist in that area and is one of the oldest temple in the country which is very badly maintained at present.

Outer view

The temple is normal is size but the statue is almost ten feet height. Sri Laksman at the right side of Ram and Seetha is in the left of Ram. It was pleasant experience to visit a Ramar temple. It was greatest feel; I never ever go this feel in my heart while visiting other temples.

Hanuman in the front...

This temple is located in Thirunindravur, near Bakthavachalam Thiru Kovil. From Adyar it’s around 30 KMs. I would like everyone to visit this place the temple location was awesome, this is even perfect for nature lovers. You must see the back view of the Ramar temple; I was excited after seeing the same.

For everyone, let’s save the existing treasure and focus on the present. Without even trying to save the present temple why we need to build the new ones, there is no point in doing that right?

Thennadudaya Sivane Potri … save Siva Temple

25 07 2009

In the beginning of the year I planned for visiting new Temples in and around the Chennai city. First I decided to visit temples in the Thirunindravur area where you can find great old Indian treasures.

On January 29 early morning at 5 AM I started my journey towards Thirunindravur. My plan was to visit Bakthavachalam Thiru Kovil in Thirunindravur and nearby places. But due to some confusion in the route I chosen I was diverted towards the Elavedu village and I struck up in the middle of the village.

Elavedu

There I found a small mandabam in the road side and I thought here somewhere nearby there should be some temple. This mandabam is symbol for that, and asked the people over there and I got the confirmation of Lord Siva temple is somewhere nearby.

Mani Mandabam

After some diversion towards the village residential area finally we found the treasure standing tall and great to see. But a true Indian will brokenhearted when they see this treasures condition and uncared oldest structure.

Fine structure under pressure

No pooja is happening over there, no one to care about it. I enquired few over there in that village; they’re giving no proper response about the temple. Still I don’t know the exact name of this temple :(

People save our treasure and save our India. We the people need to make the difference. We’re the change!

Trek to temple …

3 07 2008

Well we started our journey in the morning to visit some of the oldest and finest temples in the Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. Vellore is a place famous for Forts, we call it as city of forts. Another big place comes in mind when speak about Vellore, is central jail :) .

After covering some of the temples in our journey we are in search Unique temple (I will Blog this Unique temple later) found a name board saying “Sri Vel Murugan Alayam” in Tamil, on the bottom of a small mountain.

After seeing the location we got interested in visiting the temple. When we searched for people to ask about the temple, we found a hut and a lady came out from that and my brother asked how long we need to walk to reach the temple in the top? the lady replied its very nearer and we removed our footwear’s in inside our car. What we do normally visiting a temple.

After some 10 to 20 steps we found very hard and we thought we did a mistake by removing the footwear’s. And we think ourselves this will not last long all the way (Positive Thinking :) ) but most of the route was hard to walk without the footwear.

Thank god! we reached half the mountain. And we are thinking of what that lady said “very nearer to reach the temple”. May be for her the 2 to 3 KM mountain claiming is nearer :) . Now we must say thank god, because from here their is no rough surface to walk, here starts the steps build on shapeless mountain rocks.

shapeless steps

After a long hard journey through the mountain we found the century old Murugan temple on top of the mountain. Its really unique temple, but it will be very small. It built on top of the naturally formed cave structure.

Final destination...

Visiting temples does not mean that I’m very religious person, its I want to explore how the people of India in olden days structured there city with great architecture and engineering without having any high-tech equipments’. No other country in this world has these kind of treasures to see. People of India you have countless treasures to enjoy and explore.

Sri Ranganatha Temple in Hogenakkal, An unexplored treasure

14 06 2008
Sri Ranganatha Temple in Hogenakkal, An unexplored treasure.

This month when we planned for a trip while returning from ‘Salem’ after attending one of our friend’s marriage engagement. Unanimously decided to visit Hogenakkal waterfalls. The place was wonderful. It’s hard to find a decent lodge/hotel for stay.

We decided to go for a long ‘parisal’ travel in the water and found a guy… after seeing our energy level :) the boat man given us the information about the temples inside the forest. There are two temples one inside the forest (now become very small village) and another one are in the top of the mountain. We missed out the mountain temple in our visit.

Really everyone will love this place. This is the best place then the main Hogenakkal falls.
